Due to the great importance and high prevalence of the mental disorders, this cross-sectional and mono-stage study was performed over three months, using the GHQ-28 questionnaire. The sample consider of 300 persons (57 males, 243 females) who had been admitted in the internal ward of the Kashani Hospital. The overall prevalence of mental disorders was 30.7%, which was higher in the females (Males: 12.3%, females: 35%). We found that, 20% of the case had a history of the symptoms of the psychiatric disorders, from which, 10% had been previously admitted to a psychiatric ward, 31.7% had been visited by a GP, 23.3% by a psychiatric clinics, and 41.7% by other physicians. 3.3% of them had never been visited by any physician. There was a significant relationship between sex, marital status, literacy, occupation and psychiatric disorders. The results of this research emphasizes the importance of a consulting relationship between psychiatrists and other physicians, and the need for mental health services for various groups of the society.
